Bosch Smart System Power & Drive
At the heart of the Charger5 Rohloff Mixte is the Bosch Performance Line CX Smart System, a drive unit engineered for both endurance and refinement. Delivering up to 85 Nm of torque, this motor adapts instantly to your pedalling input — providing powerful acceleration, smooth transitions, and intuitive assistance across all terrains.
For those who crave even more performance, Bosch offers a firmware upgrade to 100 Nm torque, pushing the limits of efficiency and responsiveness. This level of adaptability makes the Rohloff Mixte just as capable on a cross-town commute as it is on an all-day countryside ride.
Power comes from the Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh battery, seamlessly integrated into the down tube for sleek aesthetics and balanced handling. For extended touring, the optional Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh Range Extender increases total capacity to 1,050 Wh, ensuring energy for every journey.
The system connects effortlessly to the Bosch Flow App, where you can customize assist modes, view navigation, monitor range, and apply over-the-air updates. Together, these features make the Charger5 Rohloff Mixte a truly “smart” eBike — constantly improving and always ready to perform.
Comfort, Handling & Frame Design
The Mixte frame offers all the performance of the Charger5 Rohloff with an extra dose of accessibility. Its low step-through design allows easy mounting and dismounting while maintaining the stiffness and handling precision expected from Riese & Müller.
The geometry provides a natural, upright riding position that relieves strain on your wrists, shoulders, and back — ideal for longer days in the saddle or navigating stop-and-go urban traffic. The frame is especially suited for riders between 160–175 cm (5'3"–5'9"), providing excellent control and comfort for a wide range of body types.
Up front, the Fox AWL 34 Boost suspension fork with 100 mm travel absorbs bumps and uneven surfaces, making rough pavement and gravel roads feel smooth. Paired with Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires, it delivers a plush, stable ride with outstanding grip and minimal rolling resistance.
The Magura MT5/MT4 hydraulic disc brakes offer precise braking control, while the optional Bosch eBike ABS 2.0 ensures balanced stopping power on slippery surfaces. Every design choice — from the hydroformed aluminum frame to the integrated fenders and carrier — works in harmony to create a ride that’s quiet, confident, and beautifully balanced.
Components & Features
The Charger5 Rohloff Mixte sets the gold standard for low-maintenance eBike drivetrains.
- Rohloff E-14 Electronic Hub: A 14-speed internally geared hub with electronic shifting. Each shift happens in just 180 milliseconds — nearly instantaneous — and the system can shift automatically when you stop, ensuring you always start in the right gear.
- Gates CDX Carbon Belt Drive: Quiet, clean, and maintenance-free, this carbon-reinforced belt never needs lubrication and resists wear for tens of thousands of kilometres.
- Lighting System: A powerful Supernova M99 Mini Pro 25 headlight and integrated rear light provide exceptional visibility day or night.
- Display: The Bosch Kiox 500 colour display offers real-time performance data, navigation, and app integration for fitness and ride tracking.
- Connectivity: The RX Chip adds GPS functionality, anti-theft tracking, and digital ride logging through the RX Connect app.
- Utility: The rear carrier supports MIK HD accessories, while aluminum fenders and an included chain lock make the bike ready for all-weather commuting.
Each component has been chosen for maximum durability and elegance. This is a bike built to outlast traditional drivetrains — a machine you can depend on for the next decade and beyond.

Manufacturer Warranty
Warranty and guarantee
It is possible that a fault may occur with your Riese & Müller bike even though we prioritise quality and durability when selecting our components. In this case, we are often asked whether the fault is covered by the warranty or guarantee. These two terms are often used as synonyms, but have different meanings.
When does the warranty apply?
The warranty, also known as liability for defects, always applies if a defect existed or was expected to exist before the bike was handed over to you (e.g. material defect, assembly fault). The precise legal regulations governing a warranty are set out in the German Civil Code (BGB). The warranty starts at the moment you pick up your bike.
- It lasts two years for new bikes individually built for you.
- It also lasts two years for immediately available new bikes and ‘as new’ bikes from the online shop or our factory sales outlet (ridden less than 10 km).
- The warranty is one year for used or demonstration bikes from our online shop or our factory sales outlet (ridden more than 10 km).
The buyer (you) must direct any claims under warranty to the seller of the bike. The seller is usually your Riese & Müller dealer. A warranty claim will also be handled by the dealer partner that you selected as the Service Hub when you purchased the bike, even with bikes bought in the online shop or from our factory sales outlet.
Your dealer will examine the complaint on site, assess it and then, if necessary, approach us to make a claim against us.
Warranty claims cannot be handled directly between you, the customer, and Riese & Müller, the manufacturer of the bike.
Your dealer will not usually contact Riese & Müller about defects relating to other manufacturers’ components, such as Bosch, Rohloff, Enviolo or Suntour, but will contact the component manufacturer directly. This approach is always applied in the interests of our customers, as direct communication between the companies concerned usually significantly shortens the processing time.
Of course, as the bike manufacturer, we are always available to support our dealers and component manufacturers as required.
Wear that is not due to a defect is not covered by the warranty.
Please check the exact warranty conditions applicable in your country.
When does the guarantee apply?
Regardless of the legally prescribed liability for defects, Riese & Müller grants a five-year guarantee for breakage of the frame or rear swing arm. Furthermore, we grant you a voluntary warranty on the battery of two years: we guarantee that the battery will have a capacity of 60 percent after two years or 500 full charge cycles (whichever occurs first). This guarantee applies if the following conditions are met:
- You are the first owner of the bike.
- You have registered your bike online within four weeks.
- The bike logbook in the appendix of the general owner’s manual has been completed in full and all the inspections listed there have been carried out and entered.
All guarantee services and conditions are set out here in detail.
