Let us explore each component and feature that makes this bike a top choice for all-mountain enthusiasts.
Frame: Series 4 Alloy – Built for Trail Performance
The Alpine Trail E’s Series 4 Alloy Frame provides an outstanding balance of durability, responsiveness, and control. With 150mm MultiTrac suspension, this frame offers excellent absorption and stability, ensuring riders control rough terrain and challenging descents. The frame is optimized with an integrated battery and charging port, allowing easy access and seamless energy management while keeping the bike’s weight centred for improved handling.
The 148mm rear thru-axle and built-in rear speed sensor enhance stability and tracking, making this frame perfect for technical riding. The design also supports compatibility with various modern MTB components, allowing riders to upgrade and customize their setups for peak performance. The frame is meticulously crafted to provide a responsive and controlled feel, ensuring that it meets the demands of serious trail riders.
Suspension: X-Fusion Precision for Smooth Control
Equipped with the X-Fusion Trace 36 RC fork in the front, the Alpine Trail E delivers 160mm of travel, providing the control and comfort needed to navigate technical trails and absorb big hits. This fork is paired with the X-Fusion 02 PRO RXC rear shock, which features compression and rebound adjustment, allowing riders to fine-tune their setup based on the terrain. The trunnion upper mount and custom tune options further enhance the bike’s suspension performance, ensuring smooth descents and stability on challenging climbs.
The front and rear suspension combination creates a well-balanced and capable system that absorbs shocks and vibrations efficiently, allowing for a controlled and comfortable ride. Whether tackling rock gardens, roots, or drops, the Alpine Trail E’s suspension ensures you stay in control while maintaining comfort throughout your ride.
Motor: Shimano Steps EP6 – Power and Efficiency
The heart of the Alpine Trail E is the Shimano Steps EP6 Drive Unit, a powerful motor delivering 250W of power and 85Nm of torque. This motor provides a top-assisted speed of 20 mph, enabling riders to conquer steep climbs and accelerate smoothly on flat sections. The EP6 motor’s torque-sensing technology ensures a responsive and natural pedal-assist experience, adapting seamlessly to the rider’s input for efficient and intuitive power delivery.
The motor’s lightweight and compact design keeps the bike’s center of gravity low, improving balance and stability. With a robust motor like the EP6, riders can confidently tackle challenging trails and extended climbs, knowing they have the power to navigate any terrain effortlessly.
Battery: Shimano BT-EN805-L – Compact Yet Capable
Powering the Alpine Trail E is the Shimano BT-EN805-L internal battery, which offers 504Wh of capacity. This battery ranges from 15-43 miles, depending on rider weight, terrain, and assist level used, making it ideal for various adventures, from short rides to extended trail sessions. The battery is strategically integrated into the downtube, maintaining a streamlined appearance while keeping the weight balanced for improved handling and control.
The battery is easily accessible for charging and maintenance, with an estimated charging time of 11 hours. This setup ensures riders can recharge overnight and be ready for the next day’s adventure without hassle. Combining the efficient Shimano motor and the 504Wh battery offers reliable and consistent performance across varied terrain.
Drivetrain: Shimano CUES 10-Speed – Precision and Versatility
The Alpine Trail E features a Shimano CUES 10-speed drivetrain that delivers precise and reliable shifting across various trail conditions. The Shimano Deore 10-speed shifter is paired with a Shimano EM600 crankset, providing quick and efficient gear changes. With an 11-46T cassette, the bike offers a versatile gear range for tackling steep climbs and fast descents.
The drivetrain works harmoniously with the Shimano motor system, ensuring smooth power delivery and efficient energy use. Whether navigating technical sections or speeding down open trails, the Shimano CUES drivetrain offers the performance and reliability needed for an exceptional riding experience.
Braking System: TRP Slate EVO 4-Piston Hydraulic Disc Brakes – Confident Stopping Power
Safety and control are paramount on the Alpine Trail E, equipped with TRP Slate EVO 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes. With 203mm front and rear rotors, these brakes deliver consistent and powerful stopping performance. The 4-piston design provides superior modulation and responsiveness, allowing precise control during descents and technical maneuvers.
The thick 2.3mm rotors enhance heat dissipation, preventing brake fade on long descents and ensuring consistent braking performance in various conditions. With such a robust braking system, riders can confidently approach technical trails, knowing they have the stopping power needed for any situation.
Wheels and Tires: Mullet Setup for Versatility and Traction
The Alpine Trail E employs a mullet wheel setup featuring a 29-inch front wheel and a 27.5-inch rear wheel. This configuration maximizes the bike’s ability to roll over obstacles and maintain speed while providing responsive handling and traction. The giant front wheel improves control on rough trails, while the smaller rear wheel enhances maneuverability and acceleration.
The bike is fitted with Vee Tire Co. Attack HPL tires in the front (29x2.5") and Crown Gem tires in the rear (27.5x2.8"). These tubeless-compatible tires are engineered to provide excellent grip and durability on various surfaces, ensuring that riders can maintain traction and control regardless of the terrain. The mullet setup is perfect for riders seeking a bike that offers stability and agility.
Handlebar and Cockpit: Optimized for Control and Comfort
The Marin Mini-Riser handlebar offers a 780mm width with ergonomic rise and sweep, providing a comfortable and controlled riding position. Combined with a Marin 3D Forged Alloy stem and Marin Grizzly lock-on grips, the cockpit setup ensures precise steering control and a relaxed hand position, even during long rides.
The TranzX dropper seat post, available with 150mm to 170mm of travel depending on the frame size, allows riders to adjust saddle height quickly. This feature makes transitioning between climbing and descending effortless, ensuring riders can focus on the trail rather than their bike setup.

The warranty period offered by Marin does not guarantee that the bicycle will last forever, or for the life span of the original purchaser. Bicycles should be inspected regularly by an authorized Marin dealer, or qualified bicycle technician to identify any issues, which could lead to a failure. Marin cannot return un-repairable unwarranted products to the consumer if they are unsafe to use in their unrepaired condition.
At no time may any retailer or distributor make representations of what is covered or not covered under this warranty without express written permission from Marin. Should a retailer or distributor replace product before consulting Marin, it is at the sole discretion of the retailer or distributor, and may not be reimbursed by Marin.
